Falls Church is a charming small city in the middle of the sprawling suburbs of Northern Virginia. In 2011, Falls Church was named the richest county in the U.S. for its median income. While many Northern Virginia communities can begin to blend together, Falls Church offers a unique setting with all the pluses of an urban environment and very little downside.
It is only 8 miles from D.C. and there are two Metro stations, East Falls Church and West Falls Church, in the area to commute by public transportation. Commuters can also opt for the Metro bus and if feeling particularly brave, you can take your chances driving. Arlington is easily accessible for nightlife and Tyson’s Corner for shopping. This city offers a taste as well as the convenience of urban life with its own shops, cultural events, and restaurants. There is a year round Farmers’ Market featuring locally grown fruits and vegetables that consistently is voted one of America’s favorites.
There are also strong public and private schools for elementary through high school in the area. If you are looking to live somewhere anchored by a downtown with character then this is a great place.
